“Nostalgic” gets thrown around a lot these days, but Dairy Queen may actually have a case for using it here. Cereal might be tied to childhood for some people, but for me, it has just as much to do with watching cartoons on Saturday morning as it does with being fully grown and deciding at a weird hour (read: 1 a.m. and a little drunk) that something sweet and crunchy is exactly what the moment needs. So yes, a lineup of Dairy Queen desserts built around cereal and donut flavors absolutely has my attention.
DQ’s brand new Breakfast Collection features Choco Frosted Donut Blizzard, a Fruity Pebbles Shake, and a Cinnamon Toast Crunch Dipped Cone for “those craving the sweet simplicity of mornings past.”
The Choco Frosted Donut Blizzard mixes chocolate-frosted donut pieces and sprinkles into vanilla soft serve, while the Fruity Pebbles Shake blends the cereal into vanilla soft serve and milk, then tops it with whipped cream. As for the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Dipped Cone, it gives a plain vanilla cone a full cereal makeover with cinnamon-flavored coating, crunchy cereal bits, and a dusting of Cinnadust.
And people online, to no surprise, seem more than ready for to give them a lick. “A historical moment in time,” one person wrote. “BEST DAY EVER😍😍,” said another. One especially enthusiastic fan who tried it declared, “The milkshake is the best thing I’ve ever had from the DQ,” while others kept it shorter and just as sincere with “SAT FOR THIS” and “On my wayyyyyyy.”
The new Breakfast Collection is available now at participating DQ locations nationwide, as well as through the DQ app and online, for anyone whose sweet spot falls somewhere between creamy soft serve and sugary cereal milk.
