- McDonald’s is dropping a ‘Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85’ Happy Meal nationwide on May 5.
- The Happy Meal includes a ‘Stranger Things’ activity book, scannable QR code that brings you to an interactive game and digital experience, and one of 12 collectible toys.
- The toys depict 12 different iconic characters from the show.
Every time McDonald’s drops a new Happy Meal, customers can’t wait to get their hands on the exclusive toys inside. It’s as much about the nuggets as it is about the tchotchkes. Earlier this month, the chain rolled out a KPop Demon Hunters meal that had both children and adults running to their local restaurant. Last year, people could scoop up mini toys, while collaborations with iconic brands like Disneyland Resorts, The Grinch, and Zootopia 2 kept people coming back. Now, the fast food chain is entering the cultural zeitgeist once again with its new Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 Happy Meal. The drop coincides with the 10-episode animated Stranger Things spinoff on Netflix, which came out on April 23.
The meal not only comes with all of the regular fixings of a classic Happy Meal: your choice of hamburger, 4-piece chicken nuggets, or 6-piece chicken nuggets, along with a kid’s size fries, choice of milk, water, or apple juice, and apple slices, but also a Stranger Things activity book, one of 12 collectible character toys, and a QR code to unlock an interactive game and digital experience, all in a custom Happy Meal box.
The new Happy Meal pays homage to the animated series, with collectible toys featuring 12 different iconic characters. The QR code allows you to explore the world from the series, bringing you face-to-face with the monsters that Eleven and her crew battle every episode.
The Happy Meal will be available nationwide beginning May 5, and will roll out in other countries, including Australia, Germany, India, Italy, Korea, Norway, Portugal, and Singapore.
