I Tried Wendy’s New Jalapeño Ranch Cheeseburger—Here’s My Honest Review

Estimated read time2 min read

  • Wendy’s released its new spring menu at locations nationwide starting today.
  • The star of the lineup is the Jalapeño Ranch Cheeseburger, which features pickled jalapeño slices and a jalapeño ranch.
  • The heat builds with every bite, but the extra slice of cheese and the buttermilk in the ranch balance out the spice.

Spring is in full swing, and Wendy’s is celebrating the season with a lineup of limited-time menu items. Starting today at locations nationwide, the additions include a brand-new Frosty and three (!) different watermelon drinks. And, on the savory side, Wendy’s has rolled out breakfast and lunch options that are designed specifically for spice lovers.

The star of the savory menu is the brand-new Jalapeño Ranch Cheeseburger. Every order features beef, American cheese, pickled jalapeño slices, and a creamy jalapeño ranch. I, for one, love all things spicy—so I got my hands on the new burger as soon as it launched. Here’s everything you need to know before you order, from the taste to the heat level and everything in between.

Just like the other premium sandwiches on the menu, the Jalapeño Ranch Cheeseburger is made with the chain’s new potato buns. Compared to a standard bun, the exterior has a glossy sheen and the bread itself is slightly sweet—which perfectly sets the stage for the burger’s bold flavors.

As for the jalapeño, the toppings add a noticeable level of heat that builds with every bite. On my burger, I counted six slices of pickled jalapeño that pack both brightness and spice. Even the ranch has a noticeable kick—so if you’re not a fan of spicy food, I’d recommend steering clear.

But this burger is still balanced. Like the Dave’s Single, this burger features two slices of American cheese that help tame the heat. And the ranch, while jalapeño-forward, still has the buttermilk base to cool things down. Some of the individual components may be spicy, but when you put them all together, each bite is creamy, savory, and satisfying.

As a complete package, I’d say that this burger falls on the medium side of the spice spectrum. And if you’re like me and love all things ranch, this is a burger you don’t want to miss.

The Jalapeño Ranch Cheeseburger is now available at Wendy’s locations nationwide. But it’ll only be around for a limited time, so you’ll want to act fast before it’s gone for good.
