- Chipotle is bringing back Chipotle Honey Chicken after it became the chain’s most-ordered limited-time protein ever.
- The returning protein combines smoky chipotle heat with a sweeter honey finish.
- It will be available across North America and Europe for a limited time starting April 28.
Chipotle lovers, it may be time to switch up your usual burrito order. The chain is bringing back one of its most popular limited-time menu items: Chipotle Honey Chicken.
The spicy-sweet protein first debuted last year and quickly became a fan favorite. In fact, when it launched, it became the most-ordered limited-time protein in the chain’s history.
And it’s easy to see why. The chicken is marinated in a smoky chipotle, freshly grilled, and finished with a drizzle of honey. At a time when sweet-and-spicy, or “swicy,” combinations are everywhere, bringing this one back feels like a no-brainer.
So how does it taste compared to the current special protein, and my personal favorite, Chicken al Pastor? Chipotle Honey Chicken lets the sweetness take center stage. Instead of the brightness of pineapple and lime that defines Chicken al Pastor, this one is bolstered with the savory, smoky chipotle flavor.
It’s also noticeably saucier, which is not a bad thing. For a meat that can sometimes be dry, the moisture from the sauce is a much-welcomed addition. If you want to enjoy the limited-edition item on its own instead of a burrito or bowl, it’s also available as a High Protein Cup—or, as I like to call it, the Gym Bro Pup Cup.
Fans can order the Chipotle Honey Chicken at all locations across North America starting April 28. To mark the return, Chipotle is also offering a $0 delivery fee on all Chipotle Honey Chicken orders placed online or in the app through May 11.
