Costco Brought Back Its Tiramisu Cheesecake—Here’s How It Tastes

  • Costco has brought back its tiramisu cheesecake after about a year off shelves.
  • Fans are already celebrating the return, with some calling it one of the best cheesecakes the warehouse makes.
  • Delish editors tried it too, and the verdict is very strong for coffee lovers.

Costco continues to strike gold with nearly every new iteration of its beloved cheesecake. We’ve seen flavors like lemon meringue, strawberry streusel, and, just this year, salted caramel. Most of those seasonal flavors, unfortunately, make a brief appearance in the warehouse before disappearing. But Costco has now revived a cult-favorite flavor after a year-long hiatus: tiramisu.

The tiramisu cheesecake first hit the bakery department in February of last year, where it was met with plenty of member fanfare. Shoppers described it as “heavenly” and perfect for coffee lovers. About a year after it vanished, eagle-eyed members were thrilled to see its grand return to the dessert case.

Laura Lamb of @costcohotfinds shared the news on social media, calling it “easily of the best cheesecakes Costco makes.” From the looks of it, the dessert stays true to last year’s recipe, with a graham and cocoa crust, cold brew cheesecake filling, and mascarpone whipped topping.

Fans quickly began planning their next Costco runs. One person on Instagram wrote, “I’m not a sweets person, but I ran to get this and was not disappointed!” Another claimed they had already eaten a quarter of the cheesecake in one sitting.

Naturally, there was one thing for Delish to do: try the tiramisu cheesecake for ourselves. Here’s our verdict.

Costco’s new cheesecake doesn’t stray too much from the structure of its classic cheesecake formula. For one, it’s huge and features a thick layer of whipped topping. The mascarpone flavor doesn’t come through strongly there, partly because of the cheesecake filling’s intensity. Still, we loved how generous the topping layer is. It adds just enough lightness to balance the dense, rich cheesecake.

The tiramisu flavor comes through in the cheesecake base. Costco uses cold brew in the filling, which adds a slight acidic edge to the already-tangy cream cheese base.

“Tiramisu is my favorite dessert, so this cheesecake had big shoes to fill—and it did not disappoint,” says Senior Editor Samantha MacAvoy. “The cheesecake base has a light espresso flavor that cuts the overall sweetness of the dessert.”

While the mascarpone and cocoa notes are more muted, that definitely didn’t stop us from going back for another bite. Realistically, the coffee flavor is what most people are here for anyway. MacAvoy even went so far as to call it “maybe the best Costco cheesecake” she’s ever tried.

So if you want to try it for yourself, don’t wait too long. Otherwise, you may be stuck thinking about it until next year.
