- Starbucks just rolled out a revamped Rewards program with three status levels: Green, Gold, and Reserve.
- The update adds a new 60-star redemption tier, faster ways to earn stars, and new perks like Free Mod Mondays and longer birthday reward windows.
- Starbucks is also celebrating with a Triple Star Day on March 11 and a limited-time secret menu drink for each tier.
I take my Starbucks stars very seriously, and I treat redeeming them like a personal achievement. If I’m cashing in, it’s usually for a drink that starts normal but ends up becoming a barista’s problem by the time I’m done with my customizations. So when I heard Starbucks was changing its Rewards program, I paid attention immediately.
Starbucks officially launched its reworked Starbucks Rewards program on March 10, and the biggest shift is the new three-tier system: Green, Gold, and Reserve. Members can check the Starbucks app or their email to see where they landed, and the app will also track progress toward the next level.
The chain is also adding a few perks across the board. All members now get Free Mod Mondays, starting with the first one on March 16, which gives you one free modifier on any handcrafted drink. There’s also a new 60-star redemption tier that gets you up to $2 off any item, plus the ability to earn bonus stars when you digitally reload $30 or more to a Starbucks Card.
The rewards chart itself got a small but meaningful tweak, too. You can still redeem 25 stars for a drink customization, 100 stars for brewed coffee, tea, bakery items, or snacks, 200 stars for a handcrafted drink or hot breakfast, 300 stars for lunch or at-home coffee, and 400 stars for select merch. But now that new 60-star tier sits in the middle as a nice little “I’m not waiting that long” option.
Gold and Reserve members get the better stuff, naturally. Gold kicks in at 500 stars per year and includes a 7-day birthday reward window, 1.2 stars per dollar, non-expiring stars, and 4 extra Double Star Days. Reserve, which starts at 2,500 stars a year, bumps that to 1.7 stars per dollar, gives you 30 days to redeem your birthday reward, adds 6 extra Double Star Days, and includes access to Starbucks merch-shop and coffee experience perks.
To celebrate the launch, Starbucks also dropped a secret menu drink for each level in the app for a limited time, including a matcha-banana-strawberry drink for Green, a toasted-coconut caramel macchiato for Gold, and an ube shaken espresso for Reserve.
So yes, the Starbucks stars game just got more complicated. But it also got a lot more interesting.
