‘Adult’ Chocolate Syrup Recalled Over Male Enhancement Drugs

  • Lockout Supplements recalled Boner Bears Chocolate Syrup for containing undeclared sildenafil, an active ingredient in Viagra.
  • The recall affects all lots of the product and can cause adverse health consequences, particularly for those taking certain prescription medications.
  • The product was sold online nationwide.

File this one under headlines I never thought I’d write: Lockout Supplements has voluntarily recalled an adult chocolate syrup product for containing undeclared sildenafil, the active ingredient used in Viagra. All lots of its Boner Bears Chocolate Syrup, a product designed “to help boost energy, libido, and performance in the bedroom,” are affected.

Everything about the product and the recall is nuts (pun intended). The company website maintains that its creamy chocolate spread is made by chocolatiers who have been in business for 45 years. Instructions say to “consume 1 square at least one hour before activity,” although the product is chocolate syrup, not a chocolate bar. I’m already skeptical before even getting to the recall.

While the product is specifically marketed as a libido-boosting product, it does not list sildenafil among its ingredients. According to the recall notice, “FDA approval of Viagra is restricted to use under the supervision of a licensed health care professional. This undeclared ingredient may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs, such as nitroglycerin, and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels.” Those with diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, and high blood pressure are often prescribed nitrates, so this product can be particularly dangerous to people taking them.

FDA

According to the FDA, many products that are designed to help with sexual enhancement or treat sexual dysfunction are contaminated with “dangerous hidden ingredients.” A worthwhile PSA! While this is considered medical health fraud, the FDA cannot test these products before they are released on the market due to federal regulations. In this instance, the FDA became aware of the issue during routine testing after the company released the product nationwide.

The affected product includes all lots of Boner Bears Chocolate Syrup produced between January 1, 2025, and February 13, 2026, and contains the UPC code 000856683570. The syrup was sold nationwide via lockoutsupplements.com and gotbonerbearsaz.com. Luckily, the company has not yet received any reports of adverse events related to the recall.

Lockout Supplements is notifying its customers via website notification and arranging for the return of all recalled products, offering a full refund upon request. Consumers are encouraged to discard or return the affected product and contact a healthcare provider if they have experienced any problems related to using the syrup.

Now, I’m not a man, but if I purchased a product designed for sexual enhancement, I’d *assume* that there might be some ED drugs involved—so I can’t imagine customers being too upset (unless they’re taking nitrates) over this sneaky addition. But hey, at least we all got a good chuckle out of it, right?
