- Costco introduced twice-baked chocolate croissants to the bakery department.
- The pastry is a spin on the almond croissants sold at the warehouse earlier this year, but with a decadent chocolate filling.
- Members describe the croissants as “next level” and “amazing,” but some skeptics say that they’re too dry.
We might not all have a fancy Parisian boulangerie in our neighborhood, but most of us do have a Costco. The warehouse bakery department has been dropping hit after hit in 2026—and we’re only two months into the year.
A few weeks ago, Costco introduced twice-baked almond croissants made with its classic all-butter croissants and a sweet frangipane filling. Members, naturally, rushed to their local warehouses to buy a box. And now, the warehouse is offering another sweet spin on the flaky pastry.
Laura Lamb of @costcohotfinds posted a video to her Instagram showing Costco’s latest new dessert: twice-baked chocolate croissants.
Like the almond version, this pastry starts with Costco’s buttery croissants, split in half. But this time, a decadent chocolate filling is added to the middle and slathered on top of each pastry. Lamb describes the twice-baked chocolate croissants as “both savory and sweet and just amazing.”
Clearly, many of her fellow Costco members agree. “These are next level,” one person commented. “Sooo freaking tasty.” Another chimed in with, “The Costco bakery never disappoints.”
But of course, there will always be detractors. One member who bought a box isn’t planning on repurchasing: “These are too dry.” Another commenter wrote skeptically, “You mean leftover croissants they couldn’t sell.”
It is worth noting that most filled croissants—even in France—are made with leftover pastries. The added crunch and bonus chocolate center can create an entirely new (equally delicious) eating experience. And any attempt to cut down on food waste is one worth making, IMO.
Each package of six croissants is on sale at Costco warehouses now for $9.99. And like with many Costco bakery items, they may not be around for long—so if you want to try them, you might want to move fast.
