Burger King Tests New King Size Sliders Box In Two Cities

  • Burger King is testing a new King Size Sliders Box in Columbus, Ohio, and Portland, Oregon, from April 14 through May 4.
  • The sliders come in boxes of two or six and are available in three flavors.
  • A wider rollout will depend on how the items perform in the test markets.

I’ve been getting back into my Burger King game lately, and I’ll say this: the chain has been trying. Between the Whopper upgrades and some more interesting limited-time swings, it feels like BK knows it needs something a little newer and snackable to keep pace. And now it looks like it’s borrowing a page from the slider playbook.

Burger King is testing a new King Size Sliders Box in Columbus, Ohio, and Portland, Oregon, from April 14 through May 4.

Customers in the test markets can order boxes of two or six sliders, with three different flavor options to choose from. And while Burger King hasn’t locked in national pricing, the whole thing clearly feels aimed at people who like the idea of trying multiple burger moods without committing to a full sandwich.

The slider lineup includes a Deluxe Slider, which comes topped with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and burger aioli, a Steakhouse Bacon Slider with Swiss cheese, bacon, crispy onions, and peppercorn sauce, and a Bacon & Cheese Slider with American cheese, bacon, and burger aioli. Every version starts with a flame-grilled beef patty on a soft, buttery bun, which at least gives the whole thing some Whopper-adjacent credibility.

The chain calls them “King Size” because they’re meant to sit somewhere between a true slider and a full burger. So no, this is not Burger King suddenly going full White Castle. It’s more like Burger King trying to make the slider format feel more in line with how fast-food chains now pitch everything as customizable and shareable, even when you and I both know some of these boxes aren’t getting shared.

This also comes at a time when Burger King has already been tinkering with the broader menu. The chain recently rolled out its first meaningful Whopper changes in nearly a decade, tweaking everything from the bun to the toppings and overall build.

Whether there’s a national rollout depends on how customers in the two test cities respond. Honestly, I wouldn’t have said I was heading to Burger King for sliders a few months ago. Now? I’m at least curious.
