My ears perk up and my spidey sense tingles any time I hear rumblings of a new Taco Bell item hitting the menu. And this one, in particular, feels tailor-made for anyone like me with a slightly deranged relationship to spice. And while I wouldn’t normally say Taco Bell is where I’m heading for nuggets, all things considered, I may need to rethink that stance.
Starting April 16 for a limited time, Taco Bell is giving its Crispy Chicken Nuggets and a much spicier new spin: Diablo Dusted Crispy Chicken Nuggets. They’re covered in a brand-new seasoning called Diablo Dust, which takes the flavor of Taco Bell’s longtime Diablo Sauce and turns it into a powder that coats the nuggets instead.
“Diablo Sauce has a cult following, it’s that lingering heat with a hint of lime. Turning that iconic flavor into a dust reimagines how that heat hits,” said Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s Global Chief Food Innovation Officer, in a press statement.
If you want in, there are a few ways to do it. A 5-piece order comes with one sauce for $4.49, while a 10-piece order with two sauces runs $7.49. There’s also a digital-only combo with 10 nuggets, regular Nacho Fries, a large fountain drink, and two sauces for $9.99, plus a Deluxe Combo with a 5-piece nugget order, one sauce, a Chalupa Supreme, Crunchy Taco, regular Nacho Fries, and a medium drink for $10.99.
As for dipping, Taco Bell is offering Hidden Valley Diablo Ranch, Bell Sauce, and Jalapeño Honey Mustard.
And because Taco Bell is here for the people, the chain is also throwing in a Tuesday Drop for its app users. On May 5 at 2 p.m. PT, the first 30,000 Taco Bell Rewards Members can score a 5-piece order of Diablo Dusted Crispy Chicken Nuggets for $1.
