According to the recall notice issued by Wegmans grocery chain, Lundberg Family Farms has voluntarily recalled approximately 4,500 cases of its organic jasmine white rice. The affected rice was not only sold at Wegmans stores, but also at other grocery stores nationwide, including Target, Walmart, Giant, and Hy-Vee.

The affected product may contain foreign material that could cause temporary or medically reversible health consequences, although it is unclear what the exact foreign material is (wood, metal, and plastic are the most likely suspects). The affected rice was sold in two-pound bags containing the UPC code 073416-040281, as well as the following lot codes and best by dates:

  • 260201; February 1, 2027
  • 260202; February 2, 2027

Wegmans is accepting the affected product for a full refund, although no other information is currently available regarding refunds at other stores.
