- NÜTRL just launched two new vodka seltzer flavors: Blueberry and Peach.
- Both flavors are available now in 4-packs with 4.5 percent ABV with no artificial flavors or sweeteners.
- Fans are especially excited about Blueberry, which is a rarer flavor in the spirits-based seltzer category.
Vodka seltzers are not exactly hurting for fruit flavors. At a certain point, they all start to blur together into a parade of citrus, berry-ish pink, and vague good-time energy after you’ve had a few. But blueberry? Sure, not the wildest concept on earth, but it’s weirdly uncommon in this category because blueberry is just one of those flavors that can either taste spot-on or totally fake. You know a blueberry when you meet one.
That’s what makes this drop feel a little more interesting than the usual canned-drink release. NÜTRL just added two new flavors to its lineup: Blueberry and Peach. Both clock in at 4.5 percent ABV, and are made with real vodka, real juice, and no artificial flavors or sweeteners.
The more interesting drop here, at least to me, is Blueberry. Peach makes total sense because it’s already one of those eternally popular seltzer flavors that brands love to revisit. But blueberry is a little less expected, and NÜTRL is leaning into that uniqueness pretty hard—and anything that helps to stand out in the usual parade is a good thing.
“We’ve seen blueberry gain popularity across adjacent beverage categories like juices and lemonades, but it remains a unique flavor in spirits-based seltzers,” Steve Wolf, Vice President of Marketing, Beyond Beer at Anheuser-Busch, said in the announcement. “NÜTRL is focused on meeting that demand with
true-to-fruit flavor, smooth refreshment, and real drinkability.”
Fan reactions on social media to the new blueberry flavor were immediate and appropriately dramatic, with comments like “STOOOOOP I NEED IT NOOOOOW,” “GIMME!” and “need to try asap” rolling in almost instantly. Others were already preemptively crowning it, calling it their “new favorite flavor” before some of us have even had a chance to locate a pack. And both “berry berry excited about this one!!” and “she’s so bluetiful” are the level of commitment you want to see from a new canned drink launch.
Peach will probably have broad crowd-pleaser appeal, but Blueberry feels like a nice switch-up for anyone who wants something fruit-forward without falling back on the same old lemon, lime, or black cherry routine. If it really tastes like blueberry-blueberry, and not just generic sweet fruit fizz, NÜTRL may have something here.
And judging by the comments, plenty of people are more than ready to crack one open and find out.
