Domino’s Just Updated Its Pizza Tracker Experience

  • Domino’s updated its Tracker for the first time in years with a new design and more detailed order updates.
  • The new version includes more precise ready times powered by AI through Domino’s DomOS system.
  • iPhone users can now track their orders through Live Activities on their Lock Screen.

I genuinely think the Domino’s Tracker was weirdly ahead of its time. Long before every app wanted to tell us everything in real time, Domino’s was already letting us emotionally attach ourselves to the exact stage of our pizza’s journey. And after nearly two decades of faithful service, it’s finally getting a well-earned upgrade.

Domino’s just rolled out a new version of its Tracker, the order-following feature it first launched back in 2008. The company says the revamped experience now gives customers a more detailed and more accurate view of what’s happening with their order, whether it’s headed for delivery or waiting to be picked up.

One of the biggest changes is more precise timing. Domino’s says the new Tracker uses updated AI-powered tech through its DomOS operating system to better estimate when your Lava Cakes will actually be ready. That means fewer vague guesses and a better sense of when you should start acting like I do and hovering near the door like a starved gremlin.

iPhone users are also getting a nice little bonus. Domino’s has added Live Activities, which means tracking updates can now appear right on the Lock Screen without having to keep bouncing back into the app, with major order milestones popping up there as well.

The Tracker itself also looks a little different now. Domino’s has simplified the order stages to “placed,” “make,” “deliver” or “pick up,” and, yes, “mmm!” (honestly, a much strong closer, IMO). The updated tool also gives customers more detail at each step, including order info, store info, when the pizza hit the oven, when the driver left the store, GPS tracking, and a progress bar showing the car’s movement.

“For 18 years, we’ve been providing customers with the ability to track every step of their order, from when it’s placed to when it’s being made, placed in the oven and then ready for pickup or delivery,” Mark Messing, Domino’s vice president of global digital marketing, said in the announcement. “Domino’s was one of the first to launch what has become the gold standard in customer convenience across numerous industries. Domino’s Tracker® is a beloved technology, and we’re excited to have made it an even better experience for customers!”

Domino’s says the Tracker has followed more than 2.5 billion orders since its debut, which is both impressive and a little humbling if you’ve personally contributed a statistically meaningful number to that total. Either way, the update makes sense.

The Tracker already did its job just fine, but now it sounds like it’ll be even better at feeding the very specific pizza-delivery obsession the rest of us have been nurturing for years.
