You know Dianna Agron, right? Glee star, darling of the early aughts, and—let’s be honest—the one who (allegedly?) mispronounces “fruit.”

I wouldn’t exactly add that to her list of accolades, but according to my Instagram and TikTok feed, she’s getting a lot of attention for the way she says it.

It all started a few days ago when Vanity Fair posted a now-viral clip of Agron prepping for a Miu Miu lunch. As she goes through her steps, she says “fruit” with what can only be described as a very gaudy, transatlantic accent.

“This is my great goal in life,” she says in the clip. “To be able to peel, cut, and present fruit like this.” But instead of pronouncing “fruit” like “froot,” she says it like “früt” or “frewt.”

Now, I’m not saying the accent is fake, but I did grow up with Quinn Fabray (IYKYK), and I don’t remember her sounding quite like that.

And I’m certainly not the only one. Instagram creator Jackie Schmell (the brain behind TheBitchBible) took to social media to express her shock at Agron’s newfound accent. “The way she says fruit is just so unbelievable,” she says in the video. “I don’t really know—is it French? Is it British? Is it Canadian? I’m not sure what is going on.” Girl, me either.

Other users on both Instagram and TikTok have also expressed surprise over this accent. “The accent had me floored—like I definitely don’t remember hearing this before,” wrote one user. “Dianna, please say more about ‘früt,’” commented another TikToker.

Whatever the reason behind it, one thing’s for sure—Agron’s “früt” is giving the internet something to talk about.
