  • Aldi’s Simply Nature Spinach Bites have been recalled due to possible rodent hair contamination.
  • The affected products were distributed to Aldi stores in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
  • Consumers should either throw away or return the affected product.

We’re in the middle of a hairy situation—and unfortunately, I mean that quite literally. Frozen Spinach Bites from the Aldi brand Simply Nature, manufactured by Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods Inc., are the subject of an FDA recall.

The frozen snack, which comes in 12-ounce units, is sold exclusively at Aldi stores, but the recall only affects products distributed in Maryland and Pennsylvania. According to the Class II recall, which could cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, the affected products may be contaminated with rodent hair.

Approximately 7,894 units of the Spinach Bites are affected by the recall and contain the lot number G25CF-O2B, product number AL-SP, and UPC code 4099100247992. As of publishing, the recall is not listed on Aldi’s website. It’s important that Aldi shoppers double-check their freezer drawers. Should any consumers have the affected product in their possession, they should either dispose of it or return it to the store.

In the meantime, I sure hope that pesky rodent barber steers clear of human food.
