More than three million pounds of chicken fried rice products have been recalled for possible foreign material contamination. Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. issued a recall for two products after receiving numerous consumer complaints that glass was found in the food.
The recall pertains to two products in particular: Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-Style Fried Rice and Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice. The two frozen, not-ready-to-eat products were produced between September 8, 2025, and November 17, 2025, and they may still be in consumer freezers.
Approximately 3,370,530 pounds of the product are affected and bear the establishment number P-18356. While Ajinomoto Yakitori fried rice was exported only to Canada, Trader Joe’s fried rice was shipped nationwide. The 20-ounce packages have best-by dates between September 8, 2026, and November 17, 2026.
To date, there have been no confirmed reports of injury from consuming these products, but consumers are urged to contact a healthcare provider with any concerns.
The recall cautions consumers not to eat the products and instead throw them away or return them to their place of purchase.
