When I think “St. Patrick’s Day outing,” my brain goes straight to Guinness and questionable decisions, not necessarily dessert. (The Shamrock Shake is the obvious exception.) But Dairy Queen is making a very convincing case that green-themed sweets deserve a seat at the table this year, too.
DQ is rolling out two minty treats for St. Patrick’s Day season: the new Mint Crunchin’ Cookie Dipped Cone, as well as the fan-favorite Mint OREO Blizzard Treat, which will step into the spotlight as March’s Blizzard of the Month.
Starting February 23, the Mint Crunchin’ Cookie Dipped Cone takes DQ’s vanilla soft serve, dips it in a green mint-flavored coating, then finishes it with choco cookie crumbles. Then there’s the Mint OREO Blizzard—DQ’s version blends OREO cookie pieces with crème de menthe and its classic soft serve.
And people truly ride for this one. On Instagram, one fan said the Mint OREO Blizzard has been his “favorite for over a decade 😂.” If you’ve been loyal to a dessert for ten-plus years, you deserve a medal. Or at least a golden spoon.
Both treats will be available for a limited time at participating DQ restaurants nationwide, and you can order through the DQ mobile app or online. If you’re a rewards person, DQ also notes that app deals can take up to 24 hours to show up.
So yes, you can still do your St. Patrick’s Day the classic way. But if you want to end the night with mint-soft-serve-greenness, Dairy Queen is ready when you are.
