McDonald’s Drops A Crayola Planet Happy Meal Collab

  • McDonald’s and Crayola launched a global Happy Meal collaboration called Planet McDonald’s.
  • The drop includes space-themed toys and activity kits, plus a digital experience where kids can scan creations.
  • It’s rolling out in 60+ countries (including Canada) through March 2026, while supplies last.

Crayola is basically the official sponsor of childhood creativity. McDonald’s is where kids first learn the power of a small-fry bribe. Together, they’ve launched Planet McDonald’s Happy Meals, a global Happy Meal experience built around space-themed activities, toys, and a digital component that turns kids’ creations into something they can “play” with on-screen.

The big hook is the co-branded activity kits and toys, all designed to encourage hands-on creative time that families can do together. This is not a “tiny toy you lose in the couch cushions” situation, at least not in theory. The campaign also includes an interactive digital experience where kids can scan their creations and watch them come to life in a space-themed environment that’s meant to keep the creativity going long after those McNuggets have been scarfed down.

Crayola framed the collab as a very on-brand extension of its mission. “Crayola’s mission has always been to inspire and empower creative exploration, discovery, and self-expression in every child,” said Anna Roca, head of Global Partnerships at Crayola, adding that partnering with McDonald’s turns the Happy Meal into “an imaginative journey.”

McDonald’s echoed the “experience” angle, with Sheila Hamilton, Senior Director of Global Brand Marketing, saying the partnership is meant to create fun, interactive moments for families through a space theme that lets kids feel in charge of their own story.

The Happy Meal boxes and campaign ads feature illustrations created by children, and in a first for Crayola, the company is also becoming a colored pencil supplier for McDonald’s, with Crayola’s creative IP integrated across marketing.

As for where you’ll actually see it: Planet McDonald’s is rolling out at participating restaurants in more than 60 countries, including parts of EMEA, the UK, Asia, and Canada, through March 2026, while supplies last. Unfortunately, the U.S. isn’t listed in the rollout, so don’t start negotiating Happy Meals with your kids just yet.
