In 2023, after years of fan petitions and downright begging, Burger King released its own take on the McDonald’s Snack Wrap. And now that the golden-arched fast food joint is finally bringing back its own version, BK isn’t going down without a fight.

In response to news of the official Snack Wrap return, which is slated for sometime in 2025, Burger King is giving away free Royal Crispy Wraps all weekend long. In an obvious dig at Micky D’s, who had tweeted out “Snack wraps xx.xx.2025″ just yesterday, Burger King shared its own announcement: “Royal crispy wraps 12.05.2024.” Touché.

Now through Sunday, customers can snag the copycat menu item for free with any purchase of $1 or more through the BK app.

“Because why wait when you can get your hands on a delicious (and free) Royal Crispy Wrap featuring crispy white meat chicken, juicy tomato, crisp lettuce in a soft tortilla, available in Classic, Honey Mustard and Fiery,” the company wrote in a statement to Delish.

In case you missed the McDonald’s news altogether, let us catch you up. Company president Joe Erlinger shared the menu update while apologizing for the recent E. coli outbreak, which killed one and sickened over 100 more .

“We let people down. I want to apologize to all of our customers who were harmed by this incident,” he said in a Good Morning America appearance on Thursday. While referencing the raw slivered onions, which were used on Quarter Pounders and the were culprit of the outbreak, Erlinger assured fans that McDonald’s had “stopped using the supplier facility from which they came” and “stopped sourcing onions from the farm.”

He also confirmed that the CDC has declared the outbreak over: “The CDC and FDA announcement earlier this week gave us the all-clear. The investigation is over, but the work’s not done at McDonald’s.”

In the same interview, Erlinger added that the “Snack Wrap will be back in 2025.” He remained tight-lipped on a specific date. In the meantime, time for some free Royal Crispy Wraps!
