  • Wendy’s Sweet and Sour sauce returned to restaurants nationwide on April 27 after disappearing in September 2025.
  • The sauce is back for a limited time, and Wendy’s is telling fans to order it and post about it if they want it to stay.
  • Online reactions have been enthusiastic, but many customers want the sauce back permanently.

Back in December, Wendy’s publicly apologized after its Sweet and Sour sauce disappeared from menus in September 2025—a smart move on their part. The chain went on to fully acknowledge the flood of complaints from customers on social media after the sauce got cut, and now, after nearly seven months of people refusing to let it go, the brand is finally reversing course.

As of April 27, Wendy’s Sweet and Sour sauce is officially back in restaurants across the U.S.

There is, of course, one catch. The sauce is only back for a limited time, and Wendy’s is basically telling customers that if they want Sweet and Sour to stay, they need to make noise by ordering it and hyping it up online.

And honestly, people are doing exactly that.

“come on wendy let me stay,” one person wrote. “I legit stopped eating at Wendy’s when this was taken away. I will now go back but only if it stays,” said another. Other fans were less diplomatic. “Limited time???? Did you not learn!” one comment read, while another person wrote, “JUST LEAVE IT ON THE MENU I HAVENT HAD WENDYS IN A YEAR BECAUSE YOU DID THIS 😡”

If you are not deeply familiar with the sauce drama, here’s the abridged version: When Wendy’s launched its revamped Chicken Tenders, or “Tendys,” on September 30, it also rolled out a new set of dipping sauces in larger cups. Those new options were Wendy’s Signature, Sweet Chili, Scorchin’ Hot, Creamy Ranch, Honey BBQ, and Honey Mustard. In the shuffle, older sauces, including Sweet and Sour, quietly got pushed out.

Quietly, however, is not how fans took it.

The chain can frame this as a triumphant comeback, and to be fair, people are clearly thrilled to have the sauce back. But the online reaction also makes it pretty obvious that customers are not interested in a brief reunion.

If Wendy’s really wants peace, it may want to stop playing games and just leave Sweet and Sour on the menu for good.
