- An Instagram account recently shared that Trader Joe’s will be dropping new striped pastel mini tote bags next month.
- While numerous employees have stated they aren’t privy to this information yet, sources claim the tote bags will be in stores sometime next month.
- Allegedly, the mini totes will retail for $2.99 a piece.
It’s all happening…again. The chaos that ensues every time Trader Joe’s drops a new tote bag is unparalleled, and if the rumors are to be trusted, we can expect another fun new batch to hit stores sometime next month.
While fans have long coveted the pastel mini totes sold at TJ’s, the spring-inspired bag is getting a makeover this season with the release of striped pastel mini totes—a whole new twist on the beloved bag. The Instagram account @traderjoesobsessed leaked the news in a recent post, claiming that “the date of release is still to be determined but most likely in May.”
As many commenters and Trader Joe’s employees noted in the post, this intel isn’t even available to employees yet. “Even the stores don’t have this information,” wrote one person.
“Heavy on the do not call the stores or ask us because we don’t know,” stated an employee. “Seriously would love to know how you get your info? You must work at corporate office because there are no photos of these in our employee store bulletin,” wrote another.
It seems like store employees get overwhelmed when new totes drop. “As a joe’s employee, im tired yall,” commented a staff member.
As the true investigative journalist I am, I also hit up my local Trader Joe’s on a fact-finding mission. According to the employee I spoke with, staff members don’t receive tote bag information in advance. They’re as much in the dark (at least as of now) as we are.
I also reached out to Shannon Fong of @traderjoesobsessed to see if she could share any additional information about the bags, and according to her sources, Trader Joe’s is currently doing some quality control on them. A batch of bags was sent back because they didn’t meet the company’s standards, so it seems they’re still fine-tuning the design—which means the official release date is still undetermined. Crossing my fingers that all of this intel shakes out and we get these bags in stores soon. Just don’t pester the employees about ‘em.
