- During a recent episode of SNACKS!, Pete Holmes shares that he thinks pizza bagels are a trash food.
- He never ate the snack growing up and doesn’t serve it to his daughter, either.
- Not all his food takes are bad, though—he is a fan of Oreos, Doritos, and Shark Bites.
Pete Holmes is not afraid to say what’s on his mind. During the most recent episode of SNACKS!, Holmes shares some of his most controversial food rituals and opinions. Case in point: The comedian starts each morning by throwing back some sauerkraut. Yup, he eats the fermented cabbage before downing his daily smoothie first thing in the a.m. And that’s not the only thing.
Holmes shares that he considered pizza bagels a “garbage food.” On the topic of his childhood, he says, “If you ask my mom, ‘Do you have Totino’s Pizza Rolls?’ She’d say, ‘No, the boys have a mother.’ She would spit in your face.”
Even today, Holmes isn’t a fan of the bite-sized snack. “My daughter does not know the taste of Bagel Bites. I’m sorry. Sorry, not sorry.” When trying to explain his disdain for the cheesy frozen snack, he says, “I don’t really know what a bagel bite is, really; I just try to think of what the plebeian pizza would be.”
He goes on to clarify that he doesn’t actually think pizza bagels are trashy; he’s just “leaning into the bit.” Which is a bit of a relief considering he actually does have pretty good taste when it comes to snacking, if you ask me.
He was a fan of the gone-but-never-forgotten Shark Bites fruit snacks (the Great White was the best, iykyk), believes Oreos are the greatest, and calls Cool Ranch Doritos the perfect chip. “It’s like sex and a chip put on your tongue,” he describes. “Your brain is confused. Am I getting sex right now? No. Frito-Lay is here.” Personally, I’m more of a nacho cheese girlie, but I’ll let it slide this time. I’d take Cool Ranch Doritos over sauerkraut at sunrise any day.
