Priyanka Chopra Jonas can really do it all—from flexing her acting chops on the silver screen to writing a New York Times best-selling memoir to her singing career and philanthropy, the talented career woman knows no bounds. And her spice for life doesn’t just translate to her talent on screen; it has also infiltrated her taste buds.
Her love of flavor isn’t a surprise when you consider her upbringing surrounded by classic Indian spices and a zesty house cocktail her parents enjoyed: a Bloody Mary. As she explains, the Bloody Mary was very popular in the Chopra household. “My dad loved a Bloody Mary, so does my mom. I was barely a teenager and might’ve had a few sips,” she tells Delish.
“I like them spicy, that’s important,” she says. But with one caveat: “I like them Indian spicy.” The job of making them, however, is reserved for her husband, Nick Jonas. “He is the official bartender in our house,” she shares.
The recipe they use at home includes a pour of pickle juice, which Priyanka claims gives it an extra little kick. While the briny pickle juice makes total sense in a Bloody Mary, there’s another reason why the Jonases include it in their cocktail of choice. “My husband is known as ‘Nickel Pickle’ because he loves pickles so much,” Priyanka says. I guess he’ll take it any way he can get it.
