We Tried Crumbl’s Lucky Charms Cookie—Here’s The Verdict

Estimated read time2 min read
  • Crumbl teamed up with Lucky Charms for a one-week-only seasonal cookie tied to St. Patrick’s Day.
  • The Mallow Creme Cookie features a graham cracker and white candy chip-studded base, plus vanilla marshmallow frosting and Lucky Charms marshmallows.
  • While we wanted a stronger marshmallow flavor and more cereal marshmallows, we enjoyed the cookie overall.

I have always eaten Lucky Charms the same way: pick out all of the colorful, crunchy marshmallows first, then begrudgingly work through the rest. I know I’m not alone in loving the magical marshmallows most, considering General Mills eventually launched cereal-free bags of them after years of demand. Since then, they’ve popped up in Pillsbury cookie dough and Cold Stone ice cream, and now, in what might be their coolest collaboration yet.

From March 15 through 21, Crumbl locations across the country are selling Mallow Creme Cookies featuring the beloved cereal. The cookie is studded with graham crackers and white candy chips, then gets topped with vanilla marshmallow frosting and, of course, a dusting of Lucky Charms marshmallows. It’s arriving just in time for St. Patrick’s Day and is one of the few holiday treats that won’t turn your tongue green. (And for that, I’m grateful.)

I got my hands on the limited-edition flavor to see how well it actually does Lucky Charms justice. Here’s my verdict.

True to Crumbl form, the cookie is massive. It’s also less festive than I expected from a collab like this. If you removed the marshmallows on top, you probably wouldn’t be able to make the Lucky Charms connection at all. Our editors were also hoping to see more of those colorful marshmallows, either on top or mixed throughout the cookie itself.

Still, as far as Crumbl cookies go, this one is a winner. The dough has a subtler sweetness than some of the chain’s other flavors, and the white candy chips add a nice pop of texture with each bite. We couldn’t find any graham cracker flavor or texture, so we’d just describe this as a straightforward sugar cookie with some white chocolate-y chunks. That said, the milder cookie is versatile and lets the frosting and marshmallows take center stage.

The frosting is supposed to be vanilla marshmallow, but none of us could identify that flavor at all. Instead, it tasted more like a store-bought cream cheese frosting, and honestly, that wasn’t a bad thing. The slight tang was actually a welcome surprise, and we liked how it balanced out some of Crumbl’s signature sweetness. Unsurprisingly, the true highlight was the Lucky Charms marshmallows themselves. We just wish there were more of them.

If you’re a Crumbl regular want something festive for St. Patrick’s Day, this is a solid option that stays true to the brand’s core lineup. Just go in knowing it’s more of a good cookie with Lucky Charms on top than a full hit of marshmallow-forward flavor, or you might end up disappointed.
