- Peloton instructor Robin Arzón opened up about her first job at Wawa on the SNACKS! podcast and revealed she would “throw down” for the chain until the day she dies.
- Although she’s vegan now, her go-to order used to include Italian meats and cold cuts, provolone, mayo, vinegar, and ice-cold iceberg lettuce.
- As for her vegan food obsession? “Tofu. I eat like pounds and pounds of tofu.”
There are two types of people in this world: Die-hard Wawa fans…and those who have either never tried it or have terrible taste in casual cuisine. Peloton instructor Robin Arzón? She falls into the former.
“One of my first jobs was making sandwiches at Wawa,” Arzón tells Delish Editorial Director Joanna Saltz on the latest episode of SNACKS! “And I’ll throw down for Wawa, like until the day I die.”
Even now that she’s vegan and “can’t eat most of the things there anymore,” her passion for the Philly staple hasn’t faded.
“I really loved Italian meats and cold cuts with provolone, a smidge of mayo. I love vinegar [and] ice cold iceberg. You need that cold crunch,” she says. “And it really is all in the hoagie bread. It’s gotta have a little bit of a crispy outside.”
Arzón still proudly wears her branded sweatshirts—“I love them,” she laughs. “There’s something about the Wawa experience.” She even has hopes about collaborating. “I really wanna work with Wawa on healthier options.”
And while she can’t get her tried-and-true Wawa order anymore as a vegan, she’s got plenty of lunch options in her new book, Eat To Hustle, which features 75 vegan, protein-rich dishes, from smoothies to dinners. One of her favorite plant-based proteins?
“Tofu,” she says. “I eat like pounds and pounds of tofu.”
Wawa execs…this is your sign to work on a tofu hogie with Robin Arzón STAT.
