Wow, a new foray into protein. Shocker! The protein trend continues, and now it’s made its way into the round little cheese covered in wax you could spot from across the room—the one I would gladly peel and peel until my hands turn red from the dye.
Babybel just announced Babybel PRO, a new snack cheese that combines protein and probiotics in one mini, individually wrapped serving. It’s made with 100 percent real cheese and just four ingredients, and each piece clocks in at 5 grams of protein and 1 billion live & active LGG probiotics, all for 50 calories.
Babybel says the whole point is giving snackers a more “functional” option without forcing them into the usual lineup of protein bars, shakes, probiotic drinks, or yogurt. So expect the same lunchbox-friendly cheese situation, but with a little extra going on.
“As shoppers increasingly seek out snacks that deliver both protein and probiotics, we recognized an opportunity to expand the Babybel portfolio, so consumers don’t have to choose between goodness and enjoyment,” said Jessica Dillon, Senior Brand Director for Babybel. “To meet consumers’ desire for both benefits in one snack, we brought them together in the playful, perfectly portioned format only Babybel can offer.”
The brand is positioning Babybel PRO as an easy grab for daily routines—gym bag, backpack, desk drawer, you name it—and it still comes wrapped in that signature red wax. (If you’ve ever peeled one open while half-paying attention and somehow ended up with wax under your nails, you already understand the experience.)
Babybel PRO joins a lineup that now includes nine varieties overall, including classic Original, Reduced Fat, Gouda, White Cheddar, and cheese alternatives.
As for where to find it: Babybel PRO is available now at Target and select retailers, with Walmart and Kroger rolling out beginning this March, and broader nationwide distribution planned throughout 2026.
If your snack drawer is already cheese-forward, consider this a pretty straightforward upgrade.
