  • Taco Bell just brought back the empanada format with a new Chocolate Fudge & Caramel Empanadas duo.
  • They are also testing a frozen Sweet Empanadas & Cream Chiller at select Live Más Café locations.
  • Fans are already using the announcement to renew their campaign for the Caramel Apple Empanada to come back for good.

We all know how obsessed I am with Taco Bell. Add my sweet tooth to the equation, and I’m basically locked in the second I hear the words “new dessert.”

That’s why this year’s Live Más LIVE menu reveals are kicking off with a move that feels extremely personal.

It’s all starting with Chocolate Fudge & Caramel Empanadas, and if you remember the Caramel Apple Empanada era, you get why people are paying attention. It’s the same general idea: warm, crispy, handheld dessert that’s meant to break open into a gooey center. This time, it’s a two-pack for $2.99, and you get two different fillings. One empanada is a classic-style crust filled with salted caramel, and the other is wrapped in a chocolatey shell filled with chocolate fudge.

The empanada duo is already on Taco Bell’s Luxe Value Menu for a limited time, right alongside standouts like the Beefy Potato Loaded Griller, Mini Taco Salad, and Avocado Ranch Chicken Stacker.

Taco Bell is also turning the same chocolate-and-caramel flavors into a frozen drink: the Sweet Empanadas & Cream Chiller. It blends pieces of the empanadas into a vanilla ice cream base, adds swirls of caramel and Mexican chocolate syrup, and tops it with whipped cream.

The catch is that it’s limited-time and only available at Live Más Café locations in Southern California, Texas, and Las Vegas.

And of course, the second this news hit, the fan reaction took a hard left, settling on one very specific demand: bring back the Caramel Apple Empanada permanently. People weren’t subtle about it either.

“We just want the caramel apple empanada back permanently is that really so much to ask for,” one person wrote. Another couldn’t be toyed with any longer, commenting, “Bring back the caramel apple empanada!!! Stop playing with my emotions!!!!,” with a third insisting there’s “no need to fix what’s not broken!”

So yes, Taco Bell has a new dessert. But the people have made it very clear what they want next.
