- Sweetgreen is testing new handheld wraps built with the same real-ingredient approach as its bowls.
- Three wraps are in the test lineup right now, and each is designed to deliver 40+ grams of protein.
- The rollout is a market test in parts of New York, the Midwest, and select Los Angeles locations.
I love a Sweetgreen bowl as much as the next person. But even the most loyal salad person hits a wall. Sometimes you want the same kind of ingredients you’d normally fork out of a bowl, just… in a format you can hold with two hands while walking or just pretending you’re not eating lunch at your desk for the 900th time.
Sweetgreen seems to agree—because the brand just introduced wraps as a new, handheld option. It’s being rolled out as a market test at participating locations across most of New York, the Midwest, and select Los Angeles restaurants, with the company using the test to see how wraps fit into people’s routines (and whether they should expand them more broadly).
The wraps aren’t reinventing the concept of wrapping food in something and calling it lunch, but Sweetgreen’s pitch is a strong one.
“Wraps are about giving our guests more reasons to choose Sweetgreen,” said Zipporah Allen, Chief Commercial Officer at Sweetgreen. “They deliver the satisfaction people expect from a wrap, upgraded with the real ingredients, quality and scratch cooking standards that define Sweetgreen. This test allows us to explore how this new, portable menu item fits into our guests’ everyday routines and expands our customer base.”
The other big selling point is that these wraps are meant to be filling, packed with 40+ grams of protein. The current test lineup includes:
- Classic Chicken Caesar: roasted chicken, chopped romaine, parmesan crisps, shaved parmesan, garlic breadcrumbs, Caesar dressing, plus a lemon squeeze
- Chicken Jalapeño Ranch: blackened chicken, corn salsa, white cheddar, pickled onions, tortilla chips, white rice, and charred jalapeno ranch
- Chicken Salad Bacon Club: green goddess chicken salad, bacon, avocado, tomatoes, chopped romaine, garlic breadcrumbs, and garlic aioli
As for price, Sweetgreen says wraps start at $10.95 at select NYC locations, and the full lineup stays under $15 across all test markets.
If you and your usual bowl need some space, consider this a pretty solid rebound.
