  • Jack in the Box just added matcha to its menu, making it one of the first fast-food chains to offer the beverage, other than coffee shops.
  • Currently, the chain is offering two beverages: Matcha Iced Latte and Oreo Match Shake.
  • Fans were quick to comment on social media about the new drinks.

Fast food is finally getting a wellness girlie makeover. Jack in the Box, which is going all out for its 75th anniversary with new menu items and fun merch, has officially become the first fast-food chain (at least one that focuses on food, not beverages) to introduce matcha to its menu. While coffee shops like Starbucks and Dunkin have long embraced the coffee alternative, this marks the first time a chain most well-known for its food offerings, like tacos and burgers, has hopped on the bandwagon. The U.S. locations of Burger King, Wendy’s, and McDonald’s, for example, do not have matcha on their menus.

But Jack in the Box isn’t just serving matcha; it has invented a whole new Matcha Platform to showcase the vibrant Japanese tea in all its glory. Currently, the chain offers two matcha-forward beverage options: the Matcha Iced Latte and the Oreo Matcha Shake. The latte features matcha tea swirled with sweetened cream and vanilla over ice, while the shake blends matcha tea into creamy vanilla ice cream with Oreo cookie crumbles, then tops it with whipped cream.

The new beverages were recently rolled out nationwide, and fans of the chain are already drooling. “WHAAAAA- THAT LOOKS SOOO GOOD,” one fan commented on a social post. “REVOLUTIONARY as always what more do we need from you jack,” another person commented.

“Okay now this is EPIC,” one fan wrote. “oH??? jack in the box i was unfamiliar with ur game….” another person chimed in.

“The Matcha Shake was 🔥🔥🔥🔥,” one fan declared. And Delish’s own Steven Morea concurs. “The matcha flavor is unexpectedly strong for a fast-food milkshake—sweet, earthy, and the kind of treat you keep thinking about,” he said.

As a certified matcha fan, I’ve never been more influenced to hit up a Jack in the Box near me.
