Ice hockey player Aerin Frankel is representing Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics. But in Milan and Cortina, she’s also representing a very specific group: people who love Caesar salad. TBH, I’ve never felt more seen.
When she’s not on the rink, Frankel dedicates her time to a self-proclaimed “passion project” where she reviews Caesar salad from different restaurants. Her second Instagram account, @painbyromaine, has nearly 6,000 followers (and counting) who keep tabs on her salad-related takes.
On the account, you can find salads Frankel herself ate as well as those submitted by friends from all over the world. And based on the reviews so far, there are a few key judging criteria: the lettuce should be well-dressed, the cheese should be abundant, and the anchovies should be present (but NOT served whole).
The reviews also reveal that a Caesar can show up in many forms, like on a chicken cutlet, on a pizza, and even on a hot dog (yes, really). It’s proof that Caesar isn’t just a salad—it’s a state of mind.
Frankel’s love for the dish is well documented. Fans of her home team, the Boston Fleet, have made custom signs celebrating her salad side hustle. The Professional Women’s Hockey League has crowned her the “#1 Caesar Salad Fan.” She’s even taken over her team’s social media channels to ask for Caesar salad recommendations during away games.
For now, Frankel is putting her salad reviews on pause. Instead, she’s using her account to share what she’s eating in Milan (including the requisite pizza and pasta). But don’t worry—she promises to drop more Caesar content soon.
