Hasselback Potato Casserole Recipe

Scaled this in half and followed the recipe to the letter. This takes a fair amount of prep and cook time, so I’d recommend saving this for a weekend meal. The Gruyere flavor was there, but I’d have liked even more of it. I checked for doneness at 1 hr 15 mins, and it was cooked, so I removed the foil and baked for only another 10 minutes before sprinkling on the remaining cheese and heading to the broiler. This is a tasty potato casserole, but even when it first went into the oven, I wondered if there was enough sauce to keep it moist. I did drizzle on a little more cream after taking off the foil, but it still turned out a bit dry. If I make again, I’ll try increasing the amount of Gruyere as well as making more sauce to suit our taste. And please, splurge and buy the Gruyere, because it really does make a difference in taste.
