- Smoothie King introduced a brand-new bundle to the menu: The 100-gram Protein Pack.
- The combo includes a peanut butter toast, the grab-and-go protein box of your choice, and a Gladiator smoothie.
- Smoothie King’s bundle is a convenient and balanced way to meet your daily protein goals in just one meal.
This just in: A new brand has entered the protein arms race. Fast-casual and quick-service chains have spent the last year trying to one-up each other with menu items that promise eye-popping macro numbers, and Smoothie King is officially joining the club with its new 100-gram Protein Pack.
Instead of cramming protein into a single weird drink or a gimmicky add-on, the Protein Pack bundles together several existing menu items to reach the 100-gram total. Each order includes a grab-and-go Protein Box, Peanut Butter Toast, and a medium Gladiator smoothie.
The Protein Box contains cheese cubes, fresh fruit, crackers, and your choice of either hard-boiled eggs or a meat stick and peanut butter. The Peanut Butter Toast features all-natural peanut butter and fruit on eight-grain bread. Put those together with one of the brand’s classic high-protein smoothies, and you’ve got what Smoothie King is calling a complete meal rather than just a snack.
This isn’t the first 100-gram protein gimmick we’ve seen. In November of last year, Sweetgreen debuted a 106-gram protein bowl with a whopping 4(!) servings of chicken. And with our national protein obsession continuing to intensify, you can likely expect more chains to follow suit.
For years, people have turned to Smoothie King for post-workout fuel or a quick breakfast, not necessarily for a carefully calculated 100-gram day. Whether customers actually want a full meal from a smoothie chain remains to be seen, but the move fits neatly into the broader protein craze sweeping the food industry. If you’re someone who already struggles to keep up with macro math, this is a convenient option to add to your meal rotation.
