After all of the time I spent in the kitchen over the holidays, the last thing I want to do is spend all of January over the stove. That’s where store-bought shortcuts come to the rescue. From bagged salad kits to a humble rotisserie chicken, I can get food on the table with minimal effort. And the newest offering from Costco’s deli department is immediately entering my menu rotation.
Warehouses are now offering bags of Flame Seared Chargrilled Chipotle Chicken—fully cooked, seasoned, and ready to eat. Each package contains two pounds of chopped chicken for just $11.99.
Laura Lamb of @costcohotfinds shared the news on Instagram, and members are losing their collective minds. “Oh my gosh, perfect for meal prep, and so delicious!!” one user wrote. Another added, “About time!!”
Still, some skeptics are calling foul on the ingredients list. Certain fans are decrying the use of low-quality chicken, seed oils, and other additives. Others are upset at the sodium content; each 3-ounce serving contains 420 mg, which adds up to 18% of the recommended daily value. Sodium-averse members may need to proceed with caution, but this chicken is still a solid, protein-packed addition for many other diets.
Eagle-eyed members also pointed out that this is the same chicken used in the Costco chicken street taco kits. You can still use it to DIY your own taco kit at home, but it’s also perfect for burrito bowls, wraps, and adding an easy boost of protein to any meal.
I don’t know about you, but I’m already brainstorming all of the easy dinner ideas I can throw together with this chicken. It’s time to walk, not run, to your nearest warehouse.
