Any candy lover knows that there’s a right and wrong answer when it comes to which flavors reign supreme. When it comes to Starburst, pink is the only way to go. Runts? I’m a banana girlie through and through. But when it comes to Trolli’s popular Sour Brite Crawlers, fans get a little contentious over their favorite flavor combo.
Delish put the question to our followers—which gummy worm is superior?—and more than sharing their favorites, fans were shocked by what the flavors actually were. While the color blue typically denotes blue raspberry when it comes to candy and drinks, in this case, Trolli’s red-blue worms are actually strawberry-grape flavored, and everyone is surprised!
“Wait. THE BLUE IS GRAPE???” one person questioned. “I frickin hate grape flavor 😂 I’m cracking up right now.”
“My whole life is a lie,” another fan commented.
“Are you telling me this whole time it’s been strawberry-grape flavored????” another person mulled over. “I’ve spent the last 15 hours rethinking life,” another joked.
A Reddit thread also discussed the common flavor misinterpretation. One person joked, “Maybe they are just trolling us!?”
“I SWEAR IT CHANGED. I just noticed this and came to Reddit to see if anyone else did too,” another person said.
Still another person questioned whether the worms were different flavors at all: “They have different flavours? I always thought they all taste near enough the same, just different amounts of sugar in some and colours.”
Despite the confusion over the actual flavor of the gummy, the majority of commenters on Delish‘s social post seemed to prefer either the strawberry-grape or cherry-lemon gummies. Ask around and I’m sure you’ll get as many different answers as there are flavors. However, one slick customer got the answer right this time: “Best when all 3 go into your mouth at the same time.”
