Is there anything better than a ripe juicy peach? In the summertime, we don’t think so! To help you eat as many as possible this year, we’ve got an easy visual guide for slicing peaches. Whether you’re making peach crumble, canning peaches, or just tossing peaches on the grill, this’ll help guarantee peachy perfection.
Step 1: Halve it.
Identify the seam that wraps around the peach. Using a paring or chef’s knife, lightly slice the peach along the seam, from the bottom to stem. (You do not want to slice very hard.)
Step 2: Separate the halves.
Remove your knife and twist apart the halves in opposite directions using your hands. If your peach is ripe, the two halves should separate easily.
Step 3: Remove the pit.
If your peach is ripe, you should be able to easily remove the pit with your fingers. If it’s too difficult to remove by hand, a spoon can be used to loosen the pit and pry it away from the peach.
Step 4: Slice it.
Continue slicing in the same direction as the peach was halved, to the thinness or thickness you prefer.
