\nThe obsession with Taco Bell goes way back to college: late-night study breaks with my roommate Frank turned into a tradition, which quickly escalated into a breakfast-lunch-dinner Taco Bell day exactly once (a Pepto Renaissance followed). My usual order is a Doritos Locos, a Cheesy Gordita, and a crisp fountain Baja Blast. I\u2019m a ground beef loyalist, through and through, because steak from fast food always felt like a questionable lane to drive in.<\/p>\n
But Taco Bell\u2019s new Steak & Poblano Rolled Quesadilla\u2014a national debut for poblanos\u2014had me curious. I like spice, I love a good ranch situation, and it\u2019s bulking season, baby. So I went for a 5-mile run, ended at the Mexican-inspired food mecca, and dove into a taste test.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s a big girl. I\u2019m used to flat, pizza-slice-style quesadillas, but I pulled it from the bag and audibly oh-my-god<\/em>-ed at the hog-roll silhouette. I didn\u2019t take my first bite until I got home, but you can just tell it\u2019s engineered for on-the-go eating. 10 points for portability.<\/p>\n
\n The Taste<\/h2>\n
The steak was shockingly delicious. I pulled a few pieces out of the roll and was very much into it\u2014tender, not fatty, not weird or \u201c3D mystery meat.\u201d If you tell me I\u2019m a steak-at-Taco-Bell person now, I wouldn\u2019t exactly disagree with you.<\/p>\n
As for the item\u2019s green co-star, they didn\u2019t skimp. This is a poblano<\/em> quesadilla, after all. The pepper brings a more \u201cpleasant afternoon heat\u201d than face-melter, especially tangled up with the Spicy Ranch.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t. Sour cream plus Spicy Ranch equals a sauced-out Steak & Poblano Quesadilla to the max. The roll turned into a Slip \u2019N Slide (and I have the photo evidence to prove it). Delicious, yes, but I had to inhale it before it swan-dived onto my floor. I\u2019d order it without sour cream next time.<\/p>\n
And I must say, with the sauciness, I wanted just a bit<\/em> more steak per bite. Not a dealbreaker, but bumping the protein would balance the spread and keep things from tasting too ranch-forward.<\/p>\n
The Verdict<\/h2>\n
This is a buy again while it\u2019s here, for sure. It eats like a meal, not a flimsy $1 side, and fits right into a classic TB order right next to a sugar-free Baja Blast like they\u2019ve known each other since \u201904 (IYKYK). I\u2019d tweak my build (skip added sour cream, maybe ask for light ranch), and I\u2019d still love a smidge more steak, but the flavor is there. It\u2019s a limited-time win in my book.<\/p>\n
