The company is facing a lawsuit from a former employee who alleges discrimination and retaliation after reporting inappropriate conduct by a top executive.  <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"3\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Former employee Robert Garza alleges that during a meeting with senior executive Martin Bally, Bally disparaged the company&#8217;s products, customers, and employees\u2014remarks Garza said he recorded. On the tape, Bally is allegedly heard saying, &#8220;I don&#8217;t wanna eat a piece of chicken that came from a 3D printer,&#8221; and claiming Campbell&#8217;s makes &#8220;s**t for f***king poor people.&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"4\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Garza also alleges Bally made extremely racist comments about the company&#8217;s Indian employees. He says he brought the recording to his manager, J.D. Aupperle, who discouraged him from reporting it to HR. Weeks after Garza submitted his complaint, he was fired. <\/p>\n<section data-embed=\"watch-next\" data-lazy-id=\"P0-13\" data-node-id=\"5\" class=\"embed\"\/>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"6\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">In his lawsuit, Garza claims Campbell retaliated against him for reporting discriminatory conduct. A spokesperson for Campbell&#8217;s told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/campbells-soup-vp-mocks-poor-people-food-secret-recording-11097497\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/campbells-soup-vp-mocks-poor-people-food-secret-recording-11097497\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Newsweek\" data-node-id=\"6.1\" class=\"body-link css-1i7jlb0 emevuu60\">Newsweek<\/a>, &#8220;If the recording is legitimate, the comments are unacceptable. They do not reflect our values and the culture of our company. Mr. Bally is temporarily on leave while we conduct an investigation. We are proud of the food we make, the people who make it, and the high-quality ingredients we use. The comments on the recording are not only inaccurate\u2014they are patently absurd. Keep in mind, the alleged comments are made by an IT person, who has nothing to do with how we make our food.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"7\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Bally is on temporary leave while the company investigates. Florida&#8217;s Consumer Protection Division is also launching an inquiry into Campbell&#8217;s product quality following Bally&#8217;s alleged statements.
