I was tempted to bring all the candles home with me, but I had a more important mission. I tasted all three Shack Shack holiday shake flavors\u2014here are my unfiltered thoughts.<\/p>\n
Peppermint Bark Chocolate Shake<\/h2>\n
This one was the biggest question mark going in, because peppermint anything can flip fast: too toothpaste-y and I\u2019m out. But Shake Shack somehow nailed the ratio. The peppermint is present but not pushy; it just kind of cools down the chocolate instead of punching you in the throat. The chocolate frozen custard is rich without being heavy, and the mint-chocolate fudge ribbon (which has tiny pops of peppermint candy folded into it) adds that glossy, melty, satisfying texture only Shake Shack can pull off.<\/p>\n
The white chocolate peppermint bark shell seems gimmicky in theory, but is very fun in practice. It cracks like chocolate armor and melts into the shake in a way that feels extra festive. Of the three, it\u2019s the most \u201choliday party in a cup.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n

This is the one. This is the flavor you fight a crowd for.<\/p>\n
I love sticky toffee pudding, but it\u2019s usually super heavy, like \u201cyou need to lie down afterward\u201d heavy. This shake somehow captures all the warm, molasses-y cake flavor without any of the cloying, overly sweet syrup that often overwhelms the dessert. You can taste actual molasses (!!), the brown sugar feels caramelized instead of sticky, and it blends insanely well with the vanilla custard. It\u2019s rich, but it\u2019s also balanced, which is not normal for anything labeled \u201csticky\u201d or \u201ctoffee.\u201d<\/p>\n
It’s easily the best shake of the lineup. No competition. <\/p>\n\n\n

I wanted this one to hit, but\u2026it\u2019s fine. It tastes exactly like what it is: sugar cookie custard topped with whipped cream and sprinkles. It\u2019s cute, it\u2019s sweet, it\u2019s festive, but nothing about it feels unique to Shake Shack. You could get something similar at basically any place that rolls out a holiday menu in December.<\/p>\n
If you\u2019re into sweet-on-sweet-on-sweet, you\u2019ll love it. If not, stick with the other two.<\/p>\n\n\n

Shake Shack\u2019s custard base continues to be undefeated\u2014I will die on this hill\u2014and the holiday lineup shows off how versatile it actually is. The Peppermint Bark Chocolate Shake is the most fun, the Christmas Cookie Shake is the most classic, and the Sticky Toffee Pudding Shake is simply elite. If you only try one, make it that one.<\/p>\n
The holidays are chaotic enough; you should at least let your shake be perfect. All three flavors are available now at Shake Shack locations nationwide!
