ahem<\/em>, colorful behind-the-scenes stories on set. But nothing\u2014and I mean nothing\u2014tops the moment she calls the \u201cmost chaotic\u201d of her nearly two-decade-long run on the network. <\/p>\nLet me set the scene for you first: Padma had just given birth to her daughter six weeks prior and was \u201ckind of out of it\u201d while nursing during a shoot in D.C.<\/p>\n
\u201cJos\u00e9 Andr\u00e9s was the guest judge, and he was doing some kind of cooking demo somewhere, and some young producer who was obviously very green and inexperienced did something\u2014I don\u2019t know what they did\u2014but they really pissed him off,\u201d she recounts on the latest episode of the Delish<\/em> podcast, SNACKS! <\/em>\u201cI\u2019ve known him for literally almost 20 years, and he can be very excitable, but it\u2019s usually fair. He\u2019s got a heart of gold, but he is very passionate…very Spanish.\u201d <\/p>\n\nPadma noticed people running around and Jos\u00e9\u2019s \u201cvoice booming\u201d all while she was still nursing. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey were like \u2018How long have you got?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Not that much.\u2019 And they said, \u2018Can you please come? Because Jos\u00e9 Andr\u00e9s is really offended at what so-and-so said to him,\u201d she continues. <\/p>\n
So, Padma left her dressing room to mediate the situation. \u201cI went over there and said, \u2018What\u2019s the problem? Are you okay?\u2019 And he was upset on another producer\u2019s behalf because one producer had said something rude to the other producer, and he didn\u2019t think that was kosher,\u201d she explains. \u201cHe was saying he can\u2019t work like this when this is all going on\u2014meanwhile, I\u2019m breastfeeding.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although Padma describes it as a \u201cvery tense moment,\u201d the story is just as heartwarming as it is…messy. \u201cI love Jos\u00e9 for that because he\u2019s always been somebody who\u2019s fought for the little guy,\u201d she adds. \u201cHe\u2019s very hotheaded, very passionate… he\u2019d tell you the same thing if he were here. But I appreciated that he stuck up for one of my young producers and told the other guy, like, \u2018Hey.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n
