You’d think the quick pan across bento boxes, rolls, and sashimi would signal mostly, “Wow, weeknight dinner, solved!\u201d reactions… but alas, the internet loves mess.<\/p>\n“‘Fresh’ is a very interesting word to use here,” one person griped, clearly side-eyeing the idea of raw fish under Costco’s fluorescent lights. “Fellas let\u2019s be real\u2014if you\u2019re getting sushi at Costco you are down bad.” another person said in a semi-roasting fashion. Someone else admitted, “Idk I\u2019m nervous about this. I\u2019m very picky!”<\/p>\n
A separate Instagram user got specific about quality: “The fish is paper thin and the rice is awful and there\u2019s a lot of it. This should really be branded as sushi-flavored rice.” <\/p>\n\n\nTo be fair, there\u2019s a reason the program continues to expand: price and convenience. It was just last year that Costco CFO Richard Galanti applauded the store’s sushi program and revealed that counters were primed to hit additional locations.<\/p>\n
“The sushi program has proven to be a category where we can be successful in both quality and price, and we\u2019re looking forward to seeing more of that in the future,” he said during an earnings call.
