He adds that pizza can be either a meal or a snack: “It’s so versatile. You have the pizza where it\u2019s leftover, right? That\u2019s a snack.”<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\nSebastian Maniscalco is always joking (it is<\/em> his job, after all), but there’s one topic in which he doesn’t play<\/em>: food. On the latest episode of our new podcast, SNACKS!<\/em>, the stand-up comedian revealed a lot about himself just by admitting his snack preferences. <\/p>\nWhile he’s definitely no diva, Maniscalco does have a few asks on his rider. “Listen, I am the antithesis of high maintenance. I don’t need anything to operate,” he tells host and Delish <\/em>Editorial Director Joanna Saltz. “Backstage I’ve got an avocado that I rarely eat [and] Halls Mentho Lyptus [cough drops] just to suck on to cool my throat a little before I go on stage.”<\/p>\nWhile you might be thinking, ‘Seb, that’s not<\/em> a snack’ (same), he has the perfect rebuttal. “I think if you have more than 3, it qualifies as a snack.” Touch\u00e9! As for the singular avocado that he “rarely eats,” there’s another sound explanation. <\/p>\n\nManiscalco adds that while he loves a good avocado\u2014sliced up and with salt\u2014for “a little energy for the show,” they’re just too unreliable. “Avocados are tough. You\u2019ve gotta get the right ripeness\u2026those of you having your avocados delivered by a third party, shame on you,” he adds.<\/p>\n
His, ahem<\/em>, unique snack philosophy doesn’t end there\u2014and it definitely stems from childhood. “Our snacking was more meal-oriented,” he explains. “It was like a snack meal. Like a sandwich at mid-afternoon was a snack.” <\/p>\nForget chips or Cheetos, Maniscalco says his dad would make a “beautiful sandwich” for when he got home from school. “This ain’t Wonder Bread with bologna,” he clarifies. “This is like Italian bread, provolone, prosciutto, oil, salt, pepper. It was an involved sandwich.” <\/p>\n
Maniscalco is currently promoting Frigidaire<\/a>‘s new in-home pizza oven, and proclaims that even pizza can be a snack. “[It] can be anything,” he continues. “It’s so versatile. You have the pizza where it\u2019s leftover, right? That\u2019s a snack. But the pizza you go out to have dinner or you make at home, I feel, is a meal.
