I<\/li>\n<li>f the settlement is approved, eligible customers could receive checks for $102.45.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"0\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">If you\u2019ve been a loyal Trader Joe\u2019s shopper for the past few years, that loyalty may actually pay off. The popular grocery chain has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit filed against the company back in 2019, which alleged that Trader Joe\u2019s violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) at some of its stores.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"1\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">The lawsuit claimed that certain Trader Joe\u2019s locations printed receipts showing both the first six and last four digits of customers\u2019 credit or debit card numbers, a practice that can increase the risk of identity theft. Under FACTA, businesses are prohibited from printing more than the last five digits of a customer\u2019s card number on receipts.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"2\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Trader Joe\u2019s has maintained that not all of its stores printed receipts this way and that, even among the stores that did, only a small number of transactions were affected. Still, the company has agreed to settle the case for $7.4 million.<\/p>\n<section data-embed=\"watch-next\" data-lazy-id=\"P0-22\" data-node-id=\"3\" class=\"embed\"\/>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"4\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">The chain has also denied any wrongdoing and says there have been no known cases of identity theft tied to the receipts in question. According to the settlement terms, Trader Joe\u2019s agreed to resolve the case in order to avoid further litigation.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"5\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">The settlement still needs final court approval and is scheduled for a hearing in August 2026. If it is approved, some customers may qualify for a payout.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"6\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Eligible customers include those who made a purchase at Trader Joe\u2019s between March 5, 2019, and July 19, 2019, used a credit or debit card, and received a receipt showing the first six and last four digits of their card number.
