No amount of anti-anxiety medication could convince me that standing in the desert all day sounds relaxing. And then there\u2019s the money. Between the ticket, the camping, the travel, and now the food prices? I\u2019d be dipping into my 401(k) just to get a snack and a drink.<\/p>\n
People at the festival right now have been posting what they\u2019re eating, and the prices are doing exactly what you\u2019d expect: causing mild outrage, full disbelief, and the occasional nervous laugh.<\/p>\n\nOne girl showed off her Coachella meal, which included Island Noodles for $23 and carne asada fries for $28, while admitting the portion was small even if the food was \u201creally good.\u201d The comments weren\u2019t exactly jealous. \u201cI am so glad i have no desire to go to anything like this,\u201d one person wrote. Another added, \u201cMore and more I\u2019m convinced I wouldn\u2019t enjoy this even if it was free.\u201d<\/p>\n\nOnce you start looking at some of the menus making the rounds, the reaction makes sense.<\/p>\n\nAt Sweetfin, bowls like the Spicy Tuna Bowl, Yuzu Salmon Bowl, and Remi Cruz Bowl are all listed at $23. Over at Dave\u2019s Hot Chicken, a chicken sandwich with fries is going for $30, while chicken tenders with fries are $26. Even plain fries are $12. If you want to stay in the noodle lane, All Dat Noodle has both its House Special Noodles and Chili Garlic Noodles priced at $18, with Spicy Wontons at $14.<\/p>\n
Then there was the guy who posted two slices of pizza and a can of Coke on TikTok, costing him $41. After taking a bite, he said it tasted like \u201ccold tomato sauce on dough,\u201d which is already painful enough before you get to the reactions in the comments. \u201cEvery bite is $4.91 \ud83d\ude02,\u201d one person wrote. Another said, \u201cId lowkey just fast cuz 41$ for two pizzas,\u201d while someone else cut straight to, \u201c$41 is a crime.\u201d<\/p>\n\nThe drinks are not helping matters either. One girl, who was posted up at camp and trying to save a little money by making breakfast, shared that she and her friends still paid $50 for three coffees. \u201cThe pricing is ridiculous. So sad that they make it this expensive. What world is 15 for coffee ok? Why?\u201d one commenter wrote. Another said, \u201cWould\u2019ve brought my own instant coffee,\u201d while someone else added, \u201cI think airport coffee is cheaper.\u201d<\/p>\n
People are still eating, still posting, and still apparently finding at least some of it tasty, but if there\u2019s one thing Coachella food prices seem to be doing especially well this year, it\u2019s making everyone outside the festival feel very content watching the performances from their couch\u2014myself included.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
