It\u2019s a culinary <em data-node-id=\"2.3\">necessity<\/em>: on fries, a cheeseburger, atop a hot dog (unless you live in Chicago, of course). But for comedian Michael Ian Black&#8230;not so much.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"3\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">During the latest episode of <em data-node-id=\"3.1\">SNACKS!<\/em>, the comedian revealed his most \u201cirrational food opinion\u201d\u2014and spoiler alert, it involves America\u2019s fave dipping sauce.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"4\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u201cI have a moral problem with ketchup. I don\u2019t like it. It\u2019s too sweet,\u201d Black tells <em data-node-id=\"4.1\">Delish <\/em>Editorial Director Joanna Saltz, before adding: \u201cI don\u2019t like a sweet condiment\u2014I like a savory or spicy condiment. A pungent condiment.\u201d<\/p>\n<section data-embed=\"watch-next\" data-lazy-id=\"P0-17\" data-node-id=\"5\" class=\"embed\"\/>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"6\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">The philosophy doesn\u2019t stop at the bottle of Heinz either. It extends to other condiments, too. \u201cWhen barbecue flavor gets too sweet, especially on chips, it crosses into ketchup territory&#8230;I will never have a barbecue chip in the house,\u201d he says. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"7\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Ketchup (or lack thereof) isn\u2019t the only food subject he feels so passionately about. Despite his controversial stance on <em data-node-id=\"7.1\">how <\/em>he\u2019s dipping his fries (or rather what he\u2019s dipping them in), Black loves a good side of \u2018em\u2014as long as they\u2019re actually called fries. Sorry, Brits. Look away! <\/p>\n<section data-embed=\"editorial-link\" data-lazy-id=\"P0-18\" data-node-id=\"8\" class=\"embed\">\n<aside class=\"css-1fm2v8u e94w1mj9\">\n<h6 class=\"css-18s47pf e94w1mj7\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" data-theme-key=\"title-design-element-before\" class=\"css-0 eagam8p0\"\/><span class=\"css-8lle59 e94w1mj5\">Related Story<\/span><span aria-hidden=\"true\" data-theme-key=\"title-design-element-after\" class=\"css-0 eagam8p1\"\/><\/h6>\n<\/aside>\n<\/section>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"9\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><em data-node-id=\"9.0\">\u201c<\/em>I think crisp is a far better name for chip, but I think fry is a far better name for fries than chips,\u201d he says. \u201cSo in my ideal world, we would eliminate the word chip from our American vocabulary, and we start calling chips crisps and keep calling fries, fries.\u201d <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"10\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u201cI actually find it annoying in London when they call fries, chips,\u201d Saltz chimes in.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"11\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">One thing he feels that people across the pond got right? Their strawberries. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"12\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u201cWhy do we not have strawberries that taste like European strawberries? Mass production? Agriculture?\u201d he asks. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"13\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u201cWhy do we have to make such gigantic strawberries? The strawberries in France were normal, petite strawberries. We\u2019ve got balls on our strawberries,\u201d Saltz says.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"14\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">\u201cWe\u2019ve got girthy, almost testicular strawberries, whereas the European ones, you just pop \u2018em in your mouth, they\u2019re delicious.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"15\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">How \u2019bout the Europeans give us their strawberries and we\u2019ll give them our word for fries.
