\nNigella Lawson is heading into the Bake Off <\/em>tent, and she’s bringing the exact energy you’d want from a new judge: excited, serious about the job, and just the right amount of anxious.<\/p>\nAfter weeks of chatter, the rumors became official when Lawson was announced as the new judge on The Great British Bake Off<\/em>, joining long-running judge Paul Hollywood and hosts Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond. And while she’s clearly thrilled, she’s not pretending she’s walking in like she owns the place.<\/p>\nAppearing on This Morning<\/em> with Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, Lawson said she’s “a teeny bit frightened,” adding, “I\u2019d be lying if I didn\u2019t say that.” Her biggest concern is both extremely specific and extremely valid: she calls herself “the clumsiest person in the world,” and she’s basically praying she doesn’t knock someone’s showstopper off a table. <\/p>\n\n\nBut if you’re worried she’ll turn into the Bad Cop of the tent, relax. Lawson also made it clear she’s not the type to nitpick for sport. “I’m not someone who looks for fault, I look for pleasure,” she said, positioning herself as the counterbalance to Hollywood’s famously technical lens. “I\u2019m all about the eating,” she added. “You know, if I see my job is eating, I feel it\u2019s not too daunting. I can eat,” which, honestly, would be perfect stitched on an apron.<\/p>\n
Outgoing judge Prue Leith has also publicly welcomed her replacement, calling Lawson a brilliant choice. It’s great to know the handoff is blessed (and the tent will stay as iconic as ever), so the only real question left is whether anyone can keep their cake safe from Nigella’s elbows.<\/p>\n\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
