Is 16 Handles in its comeback era? The upscale frozen yogurt brand that dominated the scene back in the 2010s is making a play for 2026 with an all-new take on dessert: kefir soft serve. <\/p>\n
Kefir, for anyone unfamiliar, is a fermented milk product similar to yogurt, but it contains about three times the probiotics, making it especially gut-friendly. It’s also often more tolerable for people who are lactose intolerant, sincekefir typically contains less lactose than yogurt. With many brands hopping on the pre- and probiotic bandwagon (Pepsi, Poppi, Slice), this feels like a smart move for the chain. <\/p>\n
\u201cConsumers are increasingly talking about kefir as a better-for-you dairy option, but until now, no one has brought it into the frozen dessert space,\u201d said Neil Hershman, CEO of 16 Handles. Available for a limited time, 16 Handles will be serving a strawberry kefir tart probiotic soft serve, in development for over a year. And in true 16 Handles fashion, you can top it however you want with more than 50 toppings and sauces from edible cookie dough and assorted fruit to boba and granola. <\/p>\n
