Guy Fieri is starring in a Super Bowl commercial for Bosch, and he’s nearly unrecognizable in it.<\/li>\n
He temporarily transforms into “Just a Guy,” complete with a different look and a calmer personality.<\/li>\n
Fieri also shared his best Super Bowl hosting advice, plus his go-to party foods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
Aside from putting the “flavor” in Flavortown, Guy Fieri is known almost as much for his iconic look as for his culinary chops. So when the legend himself teased a preview of his upcoming transformation in a Super Bowl commercial with Bosch, fans across the nation did a full-on double-take. <\/p>\n
Fieri transformed from Guy to “Just a Guy” for the spot, and let me tell you: the Food Network star is practically unrecognizable without his goatee and signature spiky hair\u2014 and most importantly, his signature swag. The makeover was so jarring that even his wife, Lori, couldn’t fully get on board. <\/p>\n
“She looked at me and went, ‘Oh boy,'” he shared exclusively with Delish. “When I came out with my khakis and my polo button-down shirt and my white tennis shoes and no jewelry, my hair in a wig, she goes, ‘I don’t remember what Guy looked like back in the day with brown hair and no goatee.’ Now she thinks I’d better stick with ‘Guy’ and not ‘Just a Guy.'” <\/p>\n\n\n
And it wasn’t exactly easy to pull off, either. “They brought in a CGI guy because I couldn’t shave my goatee; I was in the middle of filming Tournament of Champions,”<\/em> he shares. “And it was fun doing the acting part.” Fieri said he had to figure out who “Just a Guy” even was on-camera. “‘Just a Guy’ doesn’t speak as aggressively, uses a bit of vocabulary, doesn’t have as many mannerisms or quotes, so it took a little bit to find who ‘Just a Guy’ was,” he explained. And when filming wrapped, Lori apparently wanted the real Guy back immediately. He’d walk back over, and she\u2019d say, ‘Stop, just talk to me normally. It\u2019s already hard enough to look at you,’ he said. Safe to say: she wasn\u2019t a fan. “I look like I sold insurance, like I was going to sit down and talk to you about a whole life policy,” he added. <\/em><\/p>\n
Guy considers this commercial one of the biggest moments in his career. “I wouldn’t have done this with anybody else,” he says of working with Bosch. “I mean, honestly, because if we’re going to do it, we got to do it. These guys brought this idea, and it was full throttle. They only do things the best.” <\/p>\n\n
