According to reports, the company has struggled to reorganize since the filing, and creditors now doubt its ability to turn its finances around.

As such, creditors have requested a court order to end the Chapter 11 process and move the company into Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which would require Stoli Group to liquidate assets to pay off debts.

In a press release, the Stoli Group attributed its financial struggles in part to tensions with the Russian government. “After the company publicly condemned the invasion of Ukraine and voiced its support for peace, the Russian government designated Stoli an ‘extremist organization’ in Russia,” it said. The company claims its distillery was confiscated soon after, and it was hit by a cyberattack that disrupted operations and distribution. “These geopolitical shocks, combined with a slowdown in the U.S. spirits market and a lack of support and flexibility from the Group’s finance partners, led Stoli Group to file for Chapter 11 protection in November 2024,” the release detailed.

Related Story

If the case proceeds to Chapter 7, control of Stoli Group USA’s Stoli and Kentucky Owl entities would be transferred to a court-appointed trustee, who would oversee their liquidation. At this time, the situation applies to the U.S. operations tied to those two brands, while the company says its non-U.S. operations are not affected. However, the company issued a statement saying that, “We believe there is sufficient inventory of Stoli brands in the U.S. market to ensure consumers will be able to continue purchasing these products for the foreseeable future.”

If you’re a diehard fan, better stock up—as Ilya Rozanov surely knows, good Russian vodka can be hard to find.

The Stoli Group filed for bankruptcy in 2024 and, due to ongoing financial struggles, is now being forced to sell off its assets.
