    Jack in the Box has never played by fast-food rules. Case in point: it introduced the first two-way speaker drive-thru box, now literally sitting in the Smithsonian. It also launched the first fast-food breakfast sandwich in 1969, and it\u2019s still made the same way today. While other chains boxed themselves into morning-only breakfast menus, Jack went rogue and made the entire menu available all day. Breakfast tacos at midnight? Sure. A burger at 9 a.m.? The major milestone is bringing back retro packaging, merch, collectibles, and, most importantly, fan-favorite menu items returning on a rotating basis. I stopped by Jack in the Box headquarters to get a sneak peek at what to expect from the chain in 2026.<\/p>\n

    First returning to the menu is the iconic Chicken Supreme, followed later this year by the Hot Mess Burger, Frings, and Smashed Jack Sliders. These weren\u2019t chosen randomly. Jack\u2019s team has been actively listening to fans to figure out which items still live rent-free in people\u2019s heads.<\/p>\n

    That listening paid off with the Hot Mess. We got to assemble our own in the Jack in the Box test kitchen, and I\u2019m still not sure how employees manage to make this thing in under 30 seconds. It took ten editors about 20 minutes. The burger is messy, absurd, over-the-top, and deeply delicious\u2014it\u2019s easy to see why this is the most requested comeback item in the brand\u2019s history.<\/p>\n

    Frings? I\u2019m obsessed with this name, and I would order these every time just as an excuse to say “frings” out loud. Also, mozzarella sticks are coming that are crispy and coated in this spice mixture that adds the most surprising kick and flavor. It might have been one of the best things I tasted all day.<\/p>\n

    The chain is leaning on some nostalgia, but also innovating for the next 75 years. That means protein bowls and wraps are launching nationwide after a successful Vegas debut. And in a surprising development for a drive-thru, matcha is officially making its way to the menu. I\u2019ll admit I was skeptical about matcha at Jack in the Box, but the milkshake had a genuinely strong green tea flavor that surprised me in the best way. <\/p>\n
