But next year, that might not be the case.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"3\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">According <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/12\/29\/business\/starbucks-coffee-new-york-los-angeles\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/12\/29\/business\/starbucks-coffee-new-york-los-angeles\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"to CNN\" data-node-id=\"3.1\" class=\"body-link css-1i7jlb0 emevuu60\">to CNN<\/a>, the coffee giant is closing roughly 400 stores across major U.S. cities as part of a $1 billion restructuring plan under CEO Brian Niccol (yep, the former Chipotle guy). Starbucks&#8217; former head of real estate strategy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/12\/29\/business\/starbucks-coffee-new-york-los-angeles\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/12\/29\/business\/starbucks-coffee-new-york-los-angeles\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"told CNN\" data-node-id=\"12.1\" class=\"body-link css-1i7jlb0 emevuu60\">told CNN<\/a> that closing lagging locations can increase sales at nearby locations, especially when customers have an easier time finding a seat or a mobile pickup spot.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"13\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">It&#8217;s obviously not the end of Starbucks (far from it), but it&#8217;s definitely the end of you passing four identical green sirens in a row during your afternoon stroll.
